I believe whole-heatedly in this
Northrop Frye wrote about the trouble with the romantic narrative in general and it reminds me of your blog when he wrote that such a narrative can keep either "...rising into wish fulfillment or sinking into anxiety and nightmare" - your posts go back and forth between these two extremes.
ReplyDeleteYour posts can be summed up, I think, in one word - that word is 'Desire'. There appears to be something 'over there' you're trying to get to. But that something isn't concrete.
While I think we see the author's - your - psychological landscape, that has a dark beauty about it, what I would like to see more of is the more lucid pleasures in your work. And I think you definitely have the ability to really say exactly what you want, to give your opinion, and make your decision on a given topic. But you're not there yet.
See the writing of Octavio Paz to see what I mean. When I read Paz, I come away with a definite notion of what he thinks about something.
I do see greatness in your work - but only the seeds of it at this time.
